Good article. Makes you think. From ancient times it was only the powerful who could mediate their images through carvings on monuments, coins depicting some grand accomplishment. I recall learning how Roman emperors/ important people would have statues with these godlike, well developed bodies with their heads superimposed. Now with the internet and media tools everyone can glorify their bodily image.

Humans detaching from each other is so depressing. Reminds me of T.S. Elliot’s quote: This is how the world ends, not with a bang, but with a whimper.

The Sociology of… series is very good!

Great points! Replicating and immortalizing your body used to be reserved for the elites - though “accuracy” has never been a priority…
